Beverly Monteith, from Nantwich, Cheshire, paid £650 to buy Honey in August. But just a day after bringing her new pet back from the breeder in Leeds, the 10-week-old pup started vomiting.
Beverly rushed Honey to the vet and was told she had contracted Canine Parvovirus, also known as Parvo. The animal medic gave the Dachshund just a 25 per cent chance of surviving the highly-contagious virus and suggested it might be better to put Honey to sleep, Liverpool ECHO reports.
The gran was also told it would cost £2,000 to treat her dog.Beverly, 55, said: "She was perfectly healthy when I saw her and we paid £650 on the Saturday.
