Litter-picking Scots dog applauded by locals for keeping community tidy

A litter-picking dog is helping to keep her community tidy by binning rubbish on her daily walks.Border Collie Trinny trails parks and walking routes around her hometown of Clydebank in her quest for junk left lying on the paths before rushing to dump it in public buckets.Owner Alanna Jackson, 37, said five-year-old Trinny started picking up litter around a year ago and was then trained to pop it in the bin through positive reinforcement and treats.Alanna told the Record: "Unfortunately there is an excess amount of litter in quite a few of the places we walk in. "Trinny started picking up things of her own accord when we were out walking.

I saw it as an opportunity to clean up the local parks and so I started to train her to pop rubbish into the bin and then rewarded her."Now she's always looking around for more rubbish to put away.

She really enjoys it and it has become sort of a game to her."But if there isn't a bin nearby, I often up with my pockets full of it!"Alanna, who works in customer relations, added that locals are so impressed with the clever pet's environmentally friendly antics that passersby often stop to give her a round of applause.She said: "People are quite surprised when they see Trinny do it.

It's definitely not something you see everyday. Everyone stands around watching and she has been given a round of applause."Alanna, who works in customer relations, is now hoping her beloved pup will inspire others to look after the environment and keep the area tidy.She continued: "It is good to be doing something positive in the local community and helping the environment.
