King Charles waves to royal fans as he makes return to public duties with Camilla by his side

King Charles has returned to public duties for the first time since revealing his shock cancer diagnosis.The monarch has been undergoing treatment after publicly sharing the news of his health battle on 6 February.

The King, 75, visited a cancer treatment centre on Tuesday, 30 April, alongside his wife Queen Camilla, 76.The monarch met with patients and medical specialists, as patron of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

He was seen waving and smiling at royal fans who had waited patiently to catch a glimpse of the monarch as he returned to public duties.The visit marked the first of Charles' upcoming public-facing engagements.

He and Camilla will host a state visit by the emperor and empress of Japan in June. It was confirmed that King Charles would be making his highly anticipated return to public duties by Buckingham Palace in a statement.
