New bank notes featuring King Charles III will have entered circulation today (5 June), although it could be a while before they find their way into purses and wallets across the country.
Notes featuring the late Queen Elizabeth II will remain legal tender while slowly being replaced with new notes. The new £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes feature a portrait of the King that was taken in 2013.The reverse side of the bank notes have remained the same featuring Sir Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, JMW Turner and Alan Turing.
King Charles is only the second monarch to have appeared on banknotes, with his mother Queen Elizabeth II becoming the first back in 1960.
And for those looking to scoop up some rare banknotes, here's everything you need to know... The Bank of England prints serial numbers onto every note they issue, some of which may have special meanings.The first note with King Charles printed on has the serial number the AA01 000001.
