Jack Catterall has revealed that a deal to rematch Josh Taylor is close to being signed and promises that he will put the "nail in the coffin" on his Scottish rival's boxing career.Back in February 2022, Taylor defended his undisputed super-lightweight titles with a controversial split decision victory against the English contender at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

Catterall and his team were left livid by the judges scorecards, with the wider boxing public also believing that he should have been crowned as the new king in the 140 pound division.

Taylor, who has since been handed his first professional defeat by American stat Teofimo Lopez, laughed off Catterall's claims and has insisted that he still won the fight despite a below par-performance.Catterall has been the more active since the controversial fight, Darragh Foley and former three-weight world champions Jorge Linares last year after joining up with Eddie Hearn's promotional company Matchroom Boxing. The clamour for a rematch with Taylor has remained huge, and in an interview with IFL TV, former British champion Catterall and his manager Sam Jones have confirmed that the two fighters are poised to sign on and continue their fierce domestic rivalry.Catterall, 30, said: "I think we have almost got a deal done and are just waiting for old silly b******* to get it signed.

But we are almost there and I am looking forward to it. It's been talked about for a long time and I am ready to put the nail in the coffin and finish him."I've left it to Sam (Jones) and Matchroom to get it done, but I believe it is close now.
