United struggled to find their feet in the early stages but bagged an all-important goal on 15 minutes when nice link-up play eventually saw Joshua Zirkzee lay the ball off for Christian Eriksen to fire home.
Since the goal, the game has evened itself out but as the half wore on, the Turkish club thought they had equalised twice. Initially, Onana did well to get down to his right-hand side to palm away Youssef En-Nesyri's bullet header but as the ball came back in, the Cameroonian did sensationally to get back to his feet and tip another En-Nesyri header over the crossbar.
The heroics left the strike in disbelief but Mourinho could not help but laugh.
