Jay Slater's family given major police update as TikTok climber flies home after row

Police have told Jay Slater’s family that they can use their own search and rescue teams to look for the teenager ‘without any problem’.

The Guardia Civil has told Sky News that the family has to notify them of their plans to use search teams "for good management of information and resources" but they have not yet had a request.

Jay, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, disappeared on the Spanish island on June 17. He was last seen leaving an Airbnb in the north of the island, close to the village of Masca, at around 8am that morning. Police called off the official land hunt on June 30 but Jay’s mum Debbie Duncan and her family have said they will stay on the island to look for him.
