Hamilton Accies star targets Morton win to get season up and running

Sean McGinty has targeted a win at Morton on Saturday to kick start Hamilton’s season and get them moving up the Championship.Defender McGinty reckons Accies have the squad depth to mount a serious challenge this season, and getting their first three points early on is key to that.Former Ayr United stopper McGinty was disappointed to lose their opener 2-0 against his old side, with captain Scott Martin sent off for good measure, but says that can just be a blip.He said: “It was disappointing to lose, but I thought we had really good spells in the game.“Probably up until Scotty’s sending off I thought it was pretty even, we created a lot of chances, and unfortunately we just didn’t take them.“But I think the lads can take a lot of real positives from the game and as every game has gone on so far we’ve got better and better.“We need to turn those good performances into results now, and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.“It’s only one game.

I’ve been in the league quite a long time and I think it’s really important, in those first three or four games, to get a couple of wins and get off to a good start.“Obviously we’ve lost the first one, but it’s really important that we get that first win as quickly as possible.“We’ll go into Saturday against Morton, who picked up a really good result at Partick, so they’ll be confident, but we go into it full of confidence, following our performance at the weekend, and we’ll go there looking for the three points.“I’m sure if we put in a similar performance and take our chances we’ll come out on the right side of the result.“It’s only three points, every game is worth three points, and that’s one that we dropped, but if we can turn it around and win on Saturday at Morton then won one,
