Janelle Monáe announces The Age of Pleasure with lead single “Lipstick Lover”
thefader.comJanelle Monáe has shared the details of her first new album in five years. The Age of Pleasure, the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Dirty Computer, is due out June 9 via Monáe’s own Wondaland Arts Society and Atlantic Records.
To celebrate the news, she’s shared the forthcoming project’s lead single, “Lipstick Lover,” which joins the pre-announcement offering “Float” (feat.
Seun Kuti and Egypt 80) on the record’s tracklist. The new song — a blissed-out, dub-inspired ode to sloppy kissing — arrives alongside a steamy visual treatment co-directed by Monáe and Alan Ferguson.
It contains a bit of blurred nudity and is therefore age restricted, meaning it can only be watched on YouTube. Check out The Age of Pleasure’s cover art and tracklist below.
