Today, Lambert reveals for the first time that he KNEW Jansen would leave at the end of that historic campaign but refused to tell his team-mates for fear of derailing the title bid that meant so much to them.Speaking in part two of his Off The Record podcast, the former Celtic captain said: “Wim wasn’t long at the club and I looked at his background.
His career? My God, he had been a world class player.“Johan Cruyff once said that there were only three people he’d want to talk football with and one was Wim Jansen.
He was quiet but he had an incredible knowledge of football. He was dead calm and everybody loved him. We gave him everything we had.“He would have known what he was going into and how he handled the pressure was extraordinary.
