Inside BBC Gladiators Scots star Sheli McCoy's glamorous life off screen

Fans were thrilled when Gladiators made a sensational return to screens for the first time in over two decades. The re-boot was launched on the BBC earlier this year and has been a hit with viewers since.However it's been a whole new batch of faces fans of the original programme had to get used to with the broadcaster enlisting a group of fearfully strong and fit athletes to take on the contestants - doing anything they can to stand in their way.Among the new Gladiators is Scottish star Sabre, whose real name is Sheli McCoy.

We have already seen Sheli put on some stellar performances in various challenges on the gameshow and she certainly doesn't hold back on her brutal strength.But what is her life like outside of the show and what are her Scottish connections?The 35-year-old is originally from Windsor in England but now proudly calls Dundee home after studying a Masters at Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University.Sheli runs her own business at Dundee's SweatBox gym alongside former professional ice hockey player Sam McCluskey, who represented Dundee Stars.Sheli is 5ft 7inches tall and has a vast amount of experience in CrossFit and weightlifting.

She also is a qualified sports rehabilitation therapist.If doing all these things in her spare time wasn't enough, the star also competed for Scotland around the world in weightlifting and CrossFit competitions - including five British Weightlifting Championships.
