A number of Greater Manchester hospitals have issued alerts regarding their A+E departments this evening. Tameside General Hospital, The Royal Bolton Hospital and the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan are all warning that high demand is leading to long waits for many patients.
A message on the website of the trust which runs Tameside says: "Our emergency department is very busy. Please consider if the ED is the best place for your situation." The Wringhtinton, Wigan, and Leigh Teaching Hospitals Trust says: "Our Emergency Department (A&E) is extremely busy and you may have to wait up to four hours or for longer periods to be seen.
