Guests were forced to immediately evacuate the Hilton hotel in Manchester as fire crews descended on Deansgate on Saturday night (November 4).

Hundreds of guests, both staying in the hotel and in the bar, reportedly had to walk down the stairs to the front of the building after the fire alarm sounded at around 11pm.

A number of fire engines arrived at the scene, with one guest telling the M.E.N they were kept outside for around 40 minutes before eventually being let back into the building. One guest said: "The whole hotel was evacuated. It happened at around 11pm, I'm not too sure what happened, but the whole hotel was tipped out and walking down from level 22 was a killer.
