Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke says he can't understand why Ruud van Nistelrooy accepted the interim job after Erik ten Hag's sacking on Monday.
The 48-year-old will oversee Wednesday's League Cup tie against Leicester City as United explore the possibility of appointing Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim.
As part of the reshuffling of Ten Hag's backroom staff, Van Nistelrooy returned to United as assistant manager in the summer, 18 years after leaving the club for Real Madrid.
However, Yorke says he is unsure as to why the Dutchman was happy to remain at Old Trafford following Ineos' decision to dismiss Ten Hag on Monday.
