Horse lover lands 'dream job' at Trump Turnberry Hotel's new equestrian centre

An equestrian manager at one of Scotland’s top hotels is living out her dream working with horses - a dream she thought she may have to give up on due to health reasons.Caroline von Linden, of Maybole, is an Equido instructor and Yard Manager at Trump Turnberry’s new equestrian centre where she is responsible for the welfare of 11 horses.With Caroline at the helm, the farm belonging to the hotel is now being developed into a first-class equestrian centre offering hacking, tuition, clinics, as well as a range of livery services.As a child in Germany, Caroline’s love of horses saw her washing her dad’s car to earn enough pocket money for pony rides.Sadly, an ongoing back problem meant working in the equine industry was not realistic at the time, and after leaving school, Caroline settled on a career in hospitality, eventually coming to Scotland to work in South Ayrshire.The 42-year-old said: “When I was young, I genuinely believed a career in equine was beyond my reach.“But as it turned out, my career in hospitality led me to my dream job working with horses at Turnberry.”Shortly after arriving in South Ayrshire, Caroline was introduced to the world of Equido, a horse training and management discipline developed by Ross Dhu Equestrian in South Lanarkshire.And in 2010 Caroline took a leap of faith and started her journey to become a fully qualified Equido trainer.One of her proudest achievements was facilitating the introduction of the discipline to Equitana, the world’s largest equestrian sports trade fair.She said: “Horse training these days often demands quick results, with little time given to the needs of the horse, but I knew there was a better way.“Equido is about working with the horse to find a more natural and
