Hand luggage rules for Ryanair, TUI, Jet2, BA and easyJet as airlines begin to 'crack down'

Over the past few years, many airlines have become more strict on the size of hand luggage bag you're allowed to bring on the plane free of charge.People often aren't keen to fork out for a piece of hold luggage, especially if the trip is only for a couple of days, as this can make your holiday a lot more expensive than it needs to be.However, some experts are now calling for an even bigger crackdown on what you are allowed to take on the plane with you.

Usually, your carry-on bag must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of you, or get stored in the overhead cabinets.

Birmingham Live reports that there have been calls to banish overhead lockers entirely, as planes were not built to carry as much weight as they do now.

According to The Atlantic, passengers nowadays are carrying on "more and bigger stuff than the aircraft can accommodate".David Young, a designer who has worked on cabin features for Teague for 20 years, told the publication that something needs to change.
