Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin admits he’s relishing a SPFL Trust Trophy rematch with Raith Rovers, but wants to sort out their league form.
Accies were drawn at home to the Fife club in the quarter-finals of the competition, having defeated the same opponents 1-0 at the Falkirk Stadium to win the trophy last season.
Hamilton will host Ian Murray’s side on Friday, November 17 to avoid a clash with ground-sharing Clyde in League Two. But Rankin says halting a run of two successive draws against leaders Falkirk and basement battlers Edinburgh City is his priority.
He said: “It’s a replay of the final from last season and one that’s a number of weeks away, but it’s a game we’re looking forward to. “It’s an opportunity here, and Clyde are also at home [on the Saturday] so I’m not really sure when that will be played. “It’s one we look forward to, but we have to make sure we sort our league form out between now and then.” Should Airdrie defeat Rangers ‘B’ in their last 16 tie which is to be played early next month, and negotiate their way past Championship rivals Morton, they will clash against Accies in the semi-finals.
