John Rankin has challenged one of his Hamilton Accies players to go on a scoring run, but is pleased that goals are being spread round the squad.Accies had three different scorers in Saturday night’s comfortable 3-0 win at Montrose as Joe McGlynn broke the deadlock in the first half, before Jamie Barjonas struck in 58 minutes and Kyle MacDonald netted with five minutes remaining.MacDonald is leading the way in the scoring charts with five goals, and Rankin is pleased that several of his stars have strikes to their names. But the Accies gaffer hopes somebody will go out on their own and make it easier for them to gain promotion back to the Championship. He said: “We’ve got 15 different goal-scorers this season so far, and I’m pleased they’re coming from different angles.“I would love for somebody to go on a run and score goals, but at the same time I’m loving the fact they’re shared out amongst the squad.“The squad are believing in what we’re trying to do, we’ve got different players in the box at different times, and each one causes a different threat.“Hopefully we continue to create chances, and with that comes the goals over and above that.”Despite a good win on the road that keeps Accies two points behind leaders Falkirk, Rankin wasn’t happy with his side’s first-half performance. He said: “I thought the first half was probably the worst we’ve been this season, if I’m being honest.“The second-half performance pleased me, I got a reaction from the players, and the good thing for us is that we can get the three points when we’re not at our best.“Montrose is a really hard place to go and pick up points, given the run that they’re on, so to go there and get a win in the way we did, I was delighted.”Another long away day
