Greater Manchester Police has issued a warning as 'childhood infections of measles and whooping cough are rising dramatically'.
The police force is urging parents to make sure they and their children are vaccinated as 'we are already seeing cases requiring hospital attendance including hospital admittance'. 'Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world', warned GMP's Longsight and Moss Side division.
The force took to social media to spread the message that 'one child can contaminate 90 per cent of the classroom', and 'if your child isn't vaccinated, they're not protected'.
The reminders come amid a concerning rise in cases of measles across the country this year, including in Greater Manchester, following a decline in the vaccination rates of the MMR jab (measles, mumps, and rubella).
