A woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of a baby boy whose remains were found near a Cheshire theme park in 1998.
The baby, who was named "Callum" by police, was found in woodland close to the Gulliver's World theme park in Warrington. A dog walker discovered him, a few hours old, wrapped in a plastic bag on March 14th 1998.
He, tragically, had passed away. Joanne Sharkey, of West Derby, Liverpool, appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court today (April 16) charged with murder and concealment of the birth of a child. She spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address, and appeared to be shaking as she stood in the dock. The defendant, of Denham Close, was remanded in custody.
