Gia Ford has announced details of her debut album ‘Transparent Things’, alongside a haunting new single, ‘Paint Me Like A Woman’.

Check it out below.‘Transparent Things’ was recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in LA, with Tony Berg — the producer behind Phoebe Bridgers’ ‘Stranger In The Alps‘ and ‘Punisher‘, as well as Tiny Habits’ recent debut album ‘All For Something’.

The album will be released September 13 via Chrysalis Records, and you can pre-order/pre-save it here.An introduction to the series of characters created for her first record, ‘Paint Me Like A Woman’ imagines the thoughts of a woman driven to villainy as a result of disrespect from men.“It is a look inside her mind as she feels herself drifting away from who she really is; allowing her rage to weave itself into the fabric of her being,” said Ford. “It’s a comment on how we hurt each other, how we change each other, and a question: who gets punished for this terrible nature we have all, to varying degrees, embodied?”The track features an atmospheric piano and explores the internal monologue of a woman transforming into a villain due to mistreatment from men. “Now there’s so much blood on my hands/But you made me who I am,” Ford sings, outlining the psychological impact of misogyny. The single represents the wider theme of alienation that will define Ford’s debut album.

She shared that the record tells the story of various characters, which she described as “outcasts”.“Thematically it has a mythical quality, stemming from the repeated references to creatures, ghosts and undefined spirits,” she explained.
