This season a total of 37 nests in 30 different locations in the UK - dwarfing figures from any previous year. And in a presentation to the British Beekeeping Association, Andrew Durham said lessons from the continent needed to be urgently learnt - and said public money would ultimately be needed to help fight the battle.
