Facebook is reportedly down with thousands of users 'locked out of their accounts' this afternoon (March 5). Over 50,000 reports about the social media site have been made online, after the problem seemingly hit at around 3pm.
Over 30 per cent of people complained they were having issues with logging in, 36 per cent reported issues with the app and 33 per cent complained of problems with the website online. Follow our live coverage of the outage here A number of users reported they had been 'locked out of their accounts' and that they were met with an error message when trying to reset their password or regain access to their accounts.
It appears users trying to access Instagram, also owned by Meta - the same group behind Facebook, are also having trouble logging in.
According to DownDetector, 51,000 reports were made online in the wake of the incident. The reason for the social media site going down is not yet known. #Facebookdown was quickly trending on X, formerly Twitter, as one person wrote: "Anyone else's #Facebook logged out?
