The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will begin paying out £300 to struggling households on Tuesday (October 31). The cost of living payment is set to provide relief for those facing financial struggles ahead of rising winter energy bills and the cost of living crisis.

The payment is the second to be handed out this year as part of a wide relief scheme from the government which should see a total of £900 paid out in instalments.

The one-off, tax-free payment can be used by families to pay for a wide variety of basic necessities, including rent and bills.

However, not everyone will be eligible.
