DVLA warns of two new health conditions that must be declared or face £1,000 fine

The Driving, Vehicle and Licencing Agency (DVLA) has added two new health conditions that motorists need to declare before they can continue driving.If you've got certain kinds of health problems, such as issues with your eyesight or diabetes, it's possible that they could affect your driving ability and safety.Therefore it's vital that you let the DVLA know of anything that could be a potential problem - and failing to do so could see you slapped with a £1,000 fine and invalid insurance.Birmingham Live reports that two new health conditions have been added to the existing list this December that drivers should be aware of.

Any driver who suffers from fits or febrile convulsions must tell the DVLA.Febrile convulsions are fits that can happen when someone has a fever.

Signs and symptoms of febrile seizures include high temperatures, followed by the person making a moaning or unusual sound or becoming stiffened and unresponsive.These seizures are common in children but in adults, they could be a sign of another underlying health condition.

In most cases, these seizures are triggered by having a fever. The true cause of a febrile seizure is not clear, but viral and bacterial infections are usually associated with febrile seizures.The DVLA has told drivers they must tell them if they suffer from either of the conditions.
