Driver fleeing police in Perth forced youngsters to "jump into bushes" to avoid being hit

Witnesses say terrified kids had to “jump into bushes” as a 4x4 sped through Perth trying to evade police.The authorities revealed the Jeep Renegade failed to stop for officers in the Bute Drive area of the city before the car finally halted in Newton Place in Tulloch.It is claimed the vehicle was driving at speed through residential streets, putting members of the public - including children - at risk.Witnesses described seeing police deploy a ‘stinger’ spike to try and halt the runaway car on Sunday.One stunned resident told the PA: “We were walking our dog on Lade path and approaching Auld Bond Road when we heard the sirens very loud and getting closer.“We then saw the blue lights travelling at speed on Primrose Terrace and quickly realised they were chasing a speeding car.“However, we remained on Lade path which meant our vision was partly obscured by the trees between the Lade and Primrose and the car went passed so fast, we wouldn’t be able to identify it.

I did see it appeared to be grey or silver.“We stood for around five minutes only and in that space of time, going by the siren sounds, it was clear the chase was going around Primrose, Tulloch Terrace possibly but maybe Crieff Road and back into Primrose.“It passed us at least twice, it could have been three times.
