An intriguing battle developed at Manchester United last season and it looks set to continue into the 2023/24 campaign. Right-back is one of the few areas of the United team where there is no guaranteed first-choice starter, though one player might have a slight edge.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot competed for the role throughout the 2022/23 campaign. Dalot was without question Erik ten Hag's preferred option in the first half of the season, though an injury picked up at the World Cup meant Wan-Bissaka was finally handed his chance to impress. Looking ahead to next season, both players have been named in the squad that has travelled to the USA for the club's pre-season tour.

Wan-Bissaka and Dalot will be hoping to stake their claim to be Ten Hag's first choice on the right over the next few weeks.
