Creetown chief puts sluggish start against Wigtown due to three week lay-off

His players led 2-1 at the break at Trammondford Park before turning on the style in the second half to run out 8-1 winners.
McCaulay, who was keeper last season and was on the bench for the Wigtown game, said: “It was our first game for three weeks as we had the international break then we had a game called off against Newton. “I think that showed in the first half performance. “We were 2-0 up and fairly comfortable without actually playing any decent football. “There was no flow or temp in the first half. “We got a penalty against us which was never a penalty but you’ve got to accept the decision and move on. “We were too passive and there was no flow.
At half-time we said to the boys that the first half performance was just not playing for three weeks even though we’ve trained well. “It’s not the same as proper games. “We were comfortable but weren’t playing the football I know we can play. “I was far happier with the second half performance.” Goals from Josh Rennie and Dean Fyfe had Creetown 2-1 up at the interval.
