Frank McAvennie reckons Saturday's League Cup semi showdown with Aberdeen is Celtic’s final. The former Hoops hero is sure whoever comes out on top will go on to lift the first silverware of the season.

And having seen them dump Rangers on Wednesday to march an incredible nine points clear of the Ibrox side at the top of the table with Celtic, he can’t wait to see the two league leaders go toe-to-toe in the semi final.The 64-year-old also fancies Motherwell’s chances of an upset over Philippe Clement’s troubled Rangers side in Sunday’s other semi final.
McAvennie won the league and Scottish Cup double with Celtic in 1988. And asked if this is his old side’s final, he said: “Yeah, I think so.
