Cone Gatherers writer Robin Jenkins to be celebrated at lecture close to South Lanarkshire home

A South Lanarkshire “literary hero” will be celebrated at a special lecture in his honour this week – to be held at Hamilton library, just a stone’s throw from where he went to school.Robin Jenkins OBE, who wrote the celebrated 1955 novel The Cone Gatherers, was born and raised in Flemington near Cambuslang and studied at Hamilton Academy, now Hamilton Grammar School.Described as “the best-kept secret in British literature” despite publishing more than 30 novels, the author will now be in focus at the special event being organised by South Lanarkshire libraries, supported by the local Unison and EIS branches.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
