Former Rangers captain Colin Hendry has backed calls for a round of applause in memory of tragic young fan Cameron Rae during the Old Firm clash next week. The 20-year-old’s family have issued a plea for supporters from both sides to clap at the 20th minute of the semi-final at Hampden Park on Sunday, April 30.More than £15,000 has also been raised on GoFundMe to help pay for the funeral of the popular young man, who was found badly injured on South Methven Street in Perth earlier this month. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later with police launching a major murder investigation.
An 18-year-old man has since appeared in court in connection.A social media appeal by Cameron’s uncle - which was shared by Rangers legend Hendry - has asked for fans to come together during the Scottish Premiership match.Uncle Barry Burgess wrote: "Am writing this with a saddened heart.
My wee nephew was sadly taken from us two weeks ago through knife crime. Cameron was a big Rangers fan who loved the club."I’m asking if it’s possible to share this around.
I’m asking if Cameron could get a round of applause on the 20th minute of the semi final.“I don’t know if it would be possible to get the message to the other side as well.
