Locals spreading Christmas cheer as residents pay for their own Christmas trees
Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.Let’s be honest – this year we all need some Christmas cheer.The pandemic has blown a hole through many plans for the festive season with the very real possibility families will not be able to gather in the traditional way.Even before coronavirus forced the country into lockdown, North Lanarkshire Council confirmed the ending of Christmas lights displays.With that in mind, a number of local communities have come together to make sure there will be some level of normality this festive season.In Cleland, locals set up a JustGiving page to raise funds to help pay for a Christmas tree and lights.Cleland councillor Louise Roarty said: “The money raised will
