Carluke Jog Scotland group celebrate Scottish Athletics Awards double

Carluke Jog Scotland are celebrating after scooping an awards double at the Scottish Athletics 4J Annual Awards.The outfit, who are affiliated with Law and District Amateur Athletics Club, picked up the group of the year gong and track official Rob Dalziel won the Technical Official of the Year prize at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on October 28.Rob has been volunteering as an official for 15 years in events all across the UK at local, district, national and international level, since his children joined the club many years ago.He also officiated at the Olympics in London 2012, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and the British Track and Field Championships on regular occasions, to name but a few.Hard-working Rob is also out officiating most weekends at events throughout Scotland.A club spokesperson said: “Without volunteers like Rob Dalziel our club and clubs throughout Scotland would not survive.“We really appreciate his services and dedication to our sport.”Following Rob’s success, Carluke Jog Scotland were then crowned group of the year after a stellar season.Carluke Jog Scotland has been running since 2011 and are based at John Cumming Stadium, but in the last year they have made a real effort to get more involved in the local community.The group have completed two parkrun takeovers, collected donations for their local foodbank, and took part in the town’s gala day in fancy dress.They also took part in the first National Running Week arranged by Athletics Trust Scotland, with a special run along the Clyde Valley, and continue to reach out to the community, having recently made connections with their local Men’s Shed.This is in addition to running sessions for all abilities, supporting the health and wellbeing
