Scots work van carrying 10 people stopped by cops as seven charged with immigration offences
dailyrecord.co.ukSeven men have been charged with immigration offences after a work van with 10 people inside was stopped by cops.Officers from Police Scotland on routine patrol in Dumfries and Galloway became suspicious of the vehicle due its alleged ‘manner of driving’.
The white van was pulled over on the A76 in Thornhill at around 9am on Thursday, December 14.Police say the driver has now been charged with various road traffic offences, including carrying passengers dangerously and the vehicle being overweight.Seven men were also arrested for breaches of immigration laws as they allegedly do not have the right to work in the UK.A statement from Police Scotland’s Dumfries and Galloway division said: “Yesterday whilst carrying out routine patrols, officers from Upper Nithsdale stopped a van in Thornhill due to its manner of driving.
