Prince William has faced criticism from football fans after he failed to attend the Women's World Cup final, which saw England's Lionesses face off against the Spanish team on Sunday, 20 August.
Despite a valiant effort, the Lionesses were beaten 1-0 by Spain in a tense clash. However, they’re still being lauded for changing the face of women’s football - and for being the first England team to make a World Cup Final since 1966.
But Prince William, who is also the President of the Football Association, was noticeably absent from the event, with some accusing the royal of "sexism" arguing that he would certainly have attended if it was the men's football team who has reached the final.
FA chief Mark Bullingham has defended the Prince's failure to attend the historic match. He said: "We’ve always known he wouldn’t be able to attend, sadly, due to his diary.
