Manchester City have been warned that the Premier League cannot afford to back down in their upcoming hearing over financial regulations.
The Blues are said to have questioned the legality of Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules that were introduced in 2021 and revised earlier this year around the lengths that clubs have to go to to assure any deals are fair market value.
That has brought about another private arbitration hearing between City and the Premier League starting on Monday, in addition to the much-anticipated seismic clash between the pair of the 115 rule breaches the Premier League alleges its champions have committed over a period of 14 years.
Details of City's legal argument for next week's hearing leaked to The Times have prompted an avalanche of opinions around the game about what it could mean.
