Lanark woman struck off from role as autism practitioner after alleged theft

A Lanark social worker, who allegedly stole from a service user, has been struck off from her role.Erin Flanagan was sanctioned by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) following an incident in May last year.It was claimed that Flanagan, who was employed by an autism practitioner, stole a jumper from the individual.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The report continues: “Social service workers are expected to be honest, to treat the vulnerable service users in their care with dignity and respect, and to protect them from harm.“Stealing a jumper is dishonest and shows a serious disregard for their rights and wellbeing, a complete lack of respect for their property, and is financially abusive.

You (Flanagan) deprived them of clothing bought for them.“Your conduct raises very serious concerns about your values and your attitude to vulnerability.”The SSSC opted to remove Flanagan from the workforce register after deciding a warning “would not be appropriate as it would not adequately address the impairment of her fitness to practice”.
