Manchester City will have to dip into their academy to field teams in pre-season games against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea.
With the majority of their first-teamers at Euro 2024 or the Copa America, City are set to be without some key players in the USA in pre-season.
To boost their numbers, a number of academy players are set to feature in the USA in July and August. With a season where City could play up to 75 games, including the end-of-season Club World Cup, the academy could be needed more than ever, with a number of youngsters set to earn call-ups this summer.
Starting with those players who almost made their debuts last season, Pep Guardiola expressed disappointment that he couldn't bring on centre-back Max Alleyne at Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
