New Year's Day falls on a Sunday this year, meaning most banks and many shops will already be closed.Because of that, January 1 2023 has not been declared a bank holiday - however many will still receive a New Year's bank holiday.
Instead of January 1, workers who receive bank holidays will receive January 3 as a substitute day off.Scots already get January 2 off, so many workers instead have four days off in total, from Saturday December 31, until Tuesday January 3, 2023.As reported by the Liverpool Echo, There'll also be an extra bank holiday in 2023 to mark the coronation of King Charles III.
Scots are set to receive 10 bank holidays in total this year, they are as follows. It's useful to know the bank holidays as there is an opportunity to utilise bank holidays to get 56 days off while only using 23 days annual leave. Those who receive bank holidays will not have to book them off, so you only have to book four days of annual leave rather than five, and when you add in the weekend that's nine days off in total. What will you do with your bank holidays next year?
