A fire and an assault at flats are also forming part of a police probe into widespread disorder in Auchinleck.Cops confirmed that the blaze and attack at a property on Heathfield Road are part of an investigation into chaotic scenes that played out on Saturday night.Yesterday police said that one officer was taken to hospital following shameful attacks on force riot squads.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are continuing into the disorder in Auchinleck and the incidents that took place."We did receive a report of a fire at flats in Heathfield Road and an assault there during this incident and our investigation is at an early stage.”Scottish Fire and Rescue has been contacted for comment.Police initially responded to a call about large crowds gathering on Old Avenue in the village and tensions between cops and locals escalated when the mob refused to disperse.One officer was struck by a firework and was taken to hospital afterwards.A senior detective blasted the shocking scenes as 'completely unacceptable' and said a huge investigation was underway to trace those responsible.
