The Scottish Government is being asked to step in for a fourth time over plans for a windfarm in the Glenkens. Energiekontor UK has been keen to develop a site at Cornharrow near Dalry for several years and already has planning permission for seven turbines.

Now it wants the maximum height to be increased from 180m to 200m. An appeal has been lodged with Holyrood after the council failed to make a decision within the required six months on the latest application, which was lodged just before Christmas.

Energiekontor first unveiled plans for 13 turbines up to 150m tall on the site in 2017. That was later dropped to 11 turbines but the plan was rejected by the Scottish Government in 2019 after the council failed to make a decision.

The proposal was then reduced to eight turbines and this time won Scottish Government approval – again after no council decision was forthcoming.
