Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth has finally spoken out in response to the transphobic backlash for Dylan Mulvaney‘s sponsored Bud Light post.

The 26-year-old transgender influencer, who recently celebrated one year since coming out and starting her transition, posted sponsored Bud Light content on April 1 to promote a contest in celebration of March Madness.

The partnership drew backlash from right-wing conservatives like singers Kid Rock, who posted a video of himself shooting cases of the beer, and Travis Tritt, who said he would stop asking for free products on his tour riders. Whitworth‘s statement is already gaining backlash from both ends of the political spectrum as the statement doesn’t really seem to be addressing the situation. Dylan‘s name was not even mentioned.
