Several celebrities have defended Alison Hammond after she apologised for recent comments she made during a debate about theatre shows and audience participation on This Morning. The 48 year old faced backlash from TV viewers following Friday's episode of the ITV show, which saw Alison and co-host Dermot O’Leary, 49, discuss whether it's acceptable for members of the audience to singalong with performers at theatre shows, along with regular guest Vanessa Feltz, 60.The discussion had been in response to reports that a performance of The Bodyguard in Manchester had been cut short after a brawl broke out when the audience decided to sing over the performers.
During the debate, Alison said she'd be "devastated" if she was asked to stop singing. She said: “I can’t believe it. I’d be devastated.
I’m not even going to go to that show now.” Fans have hit out at her and Dermot for their comments, as many continued to argue against audience members singing at theatre shows.
On Sunday evening, Alison shared a lengthy statement on social media apologising and sharing her support for theatre performers.
