Alison Hammond has issued a lengthy apology over comments she made about singing during live musicals earlier this week. On Friday night, two women were forcibly removed from Manchester’s Palace Theatre for belting I Will Always Love You during a performance of The Bodyguard musical.
Staff were holding signs at the show asking people to refrain from singing, which sparked divisive opinions online as musical lovers debated the topic.
A similar story was covered on This Morning on Friday as hosts Dermot O’Leary, Alison and Vanessa Feltz discussed the rule, with both Alison and Vanessa seemingly against it. “Isn’t the whole point of going to a musical that you know that you sing along to all the bits you know and when you don’t know the words you just make them up,” Vanessa said, while Alison argued, “I can’t believe it.
I’d be devastated. I’m not even going to go to that show now.” The segment sparked massive backlash online, and the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has now addressed the moment in a substantial social media post.
