Alison Hammond gushed over her newly found friendships on This Morning on Friday, claiming she has become best pals with Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton when they met at a royal engagement in Birmingham yesterday. The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the city to celebrate its diverse culture, as the iconic TV presenter spoke of meeting the pair and she said couldn't get over how "kind and friendly" they were.

She also gushed over how "beautiful" Kate was, saying she had made a beeline to chat to her.The new Bake Off host even managed to squeeze in a game of darts with Prince William, she said, as she hilariously told the story of her "awkwardly forgetting to bow" to the Prince, who is next in line to the throne following his father King Charles. She said: "I explained I had forgot to bow to him and address him by his highness and he just laughed.

He [William] said I'm now his best friend. They have been arguing over me and both want to come to my house for dinner.""Guys when you are ready just come over to the house, food will be ready," Alison joked as colleague Dermot O'Leary looked directly into the camera and backed her up adding, "no seriously do go over, the food is good." When pressed by co-host Dermot about how she reacted when the couple left, she said she "just bounced," as she gestured up and down on the couch in excitement."I just literally bounced up and down.

They lifted up the city, everyone was so excited it was just lovely."She added: "They even answered a call in a restaurant believe it or not, William picked up the call and the two people came back and booked a table it was unbelievable."It was the best day, I feel so boosted and I am glad Birmingham got that lift because I just love it."
