Aberfeldy friends shave heads and raise more than £10,000 for charity

Two Aberfeldy friends held hands as they had their heads shaved in front of a cheering crowd to raise a phenomenal £10,600 for charity.Pals Cat Harrison (46) and Kerry Davies (42) took on the daring challenge last month - with two bidders each offering £1000 to be the one to wield the clippers!The duo sold tickets for the big shave on November 12, with 150 people from the community attending Aberfeldy Town Hall to be entertained by local rock band Slider before the bidding began on the big reveal.The duo, who refer to themselves as the ‘Baldy Babes’, have split the outstanding total between Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) and the Cornhill Macmillan Centre in Perth.Cat, who works in a local butcher, and self-employed housekeeper Kerry had talked before about shaving their heads if someone they knew lost their hair through illness.Kerry’s dad sadly passed away in May after being treated for cancer and after Cat also lost her dad earlier this year they decided this was their moment.Despite their fundraising efforts having to brave sub-zero temperatures without their flowing locks, Cat and Kerry are both delighted with their new GI Jane makeover.Cat said: “My mum suffered from heart failure and a close friend had a bad stroke.

I know some other people who have also had strokes.“Mum couldn’t walk past a CHSS shop without popping in to buy something.“I’m still using cards, gift wrap and gift tags that she bought from CHSS, and we lost her more than two years ago.“So CHSS means such a lot to me, much more than my hair does!”Kerry said: “It was an amazing experience.
