It's been a week of turmoil for Zara McDermott after the shocking details of her treatment on Strictly emerged. Her former dance partner Graziano Di Prima was swiftly dropped from the forthcoming series of the show by the BBC amid allegations he mistreated during training - while footage from the 2023 rehearsal room is said to have left those who have seen it 'in tears.' As the brutal reality of Zara's time on the show unfolded in the public eye, including most recently Graziano's spokesperson admitting he had kicked her during training, behind-the-scenes the resilient documentary-maker has been battling to save her relationship with boyfriend of five years, Sam Thompson.

Last Thursday, Sam took to Instagram to express how proud he was of Zara, sharing an advert of his “missus” modelling for Look Fantastic on the London Underground.

Captioning the snap, he wrote, “So proud of you goose @zaramcdermott.” Sam then told a commuter in his video that Zara was his “missus” adding in the caption, “Explaining to the dude I know her and I’m not weird.” The couple have been dogged by split rumours since pictures of them 'rowing' in the street and him appearing to cry at the TRIC awards went viral.

Reportedly they have been embroiled in 'crisis talks' following a 'blazing row' and just this week they were pictured on the street by their Chelsea home looking tense.
