Why Gary Neville's university scrapped 'prehistoric' end-of-year exams

University Academy 92 (UA92), a higher education institution founded by the Class of 92 in partnership with Lancaster University, is modernising higher education to make it more accessible for all.

UA92 offers courses with a fixed half-day timetable, a strong emphasis on employability skills, and no traditional end-of-year exams.

This approach reflects co-founder Gary Neville's beliefs about the UK's education system. He explained: “I don't believe you should work for 16 years at school and college, and then it all depends on a two-hour exam.

I think it's prehistoric. “I honestly believe that it needs to be ripped up. I think you should be judged on your body of work.” Neville isn't alone in his thinking.
