Whoopi Goldberg to Play Miss Hannigan in 'Annie' at Madison Square Garden!
justjared.comWhoopi Goldberg is taking on an iconic role. The 68-year-old Sister Act star will play Miss Hannigan in the touring production of Annie at New York City’s Madison Square Garden this holiday season, via Deadline.
The villainous role will see Whoopi running an orphanage and terrorizing Annie and the other little girls. Keep reading to find out more… She will join in the second week of its five-week engagement at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, set to begin with a November run at Chicago’s The Chicago Theatre before arriving at MSG.
She will appear exclusively in NYC from December 11 to January 5. “I love the theatre, and in my mind, there is no better way to spend the holidays than to get back on stage,” she said in a statement. “I can’t wait to step in to the delicious role of Miss Hannigan and perform for the greatest audiences in the world – in my hometown of New York City.” Additional casting will be announced!
