Three flood warnings are now in force across Greater Manchester, as the region continues to be battered by relentless rainfall.

All three are in place from 2pm on Monday afternoon and involve the River Irk. 'Areas at risk' have been referenced by the Environment Agency - including homes and businesses on specific streets.

Rising water levels on the Irk are expected to 'cause flooding throughout the afternoon', the agency said. The warning - the second most severe issued by the Environment Agency - has been issued for the River Irk in Cheetham Hill, around the Collyhurst Road area, with residents urged to 'act now' amid rising water levels.

This comes as more downpours are expected this afternoon and into tonight. A second warning covers the River Irk in Chadderton Fold, with flooding expected from 2pm. "Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Irk, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around some properties on Chadderton Fold, The Church Inn and the Bowling Green." The third warning covers the River Irk at Vale Park Industrial Estate.
